LASD 29-Hour Reading, New York City Center - June 28, 2024.

Love & Southern D!scomfort is a captivating American musical about an old-money family torn apart by greed, addiction, and a long-buried family secret. Set in the sultry South, it features an original score that spans R&B to Bayou Blues.

The show revolves around Milla, who reluctantly leaves her life in France to bury her estranged grandmother. The reunion with her family is far from smooth, and the funeral unearths a long-held secret that sends the family spinning out of control.

Despite its emotionally gripping story, multi-generational female leads, and nighttime soap opera appeal, Love & Southern D!scomfort is built to be financially lean and cost-efficient.

Love & Southern D!scomfort has already proven its merit and potential. It has set records in reading series attendance and sold-out concerts and received prestigious grants from the NEA and City Artists Grant Fund. The show has also been generously supported with production space, audio, visual, and technical resources, and guidance from the esteemed New York City Center.
